        Heating and Cooling

        • Energy-efficient and noise-optimized heating and cooling with Katherm HK trench convectors at all system temperatures, including LPHW and heat pump operation.
        • Use in buildings of all kinds, especially with increased cooling requirements, e.g. caused by internal loads and solar radiation via large glass facades

        Comfort in cooling mode

        • Pleasant indoor climate even in cooling mode thanks to low air discharge speeds and optimized air routing (draught-free cooling).
        • Cooled air rises up the facade, forms a spreading air roll and flows effectively into the room.
        • facade is shielded and the room is cooled in an energy-efficient manner at the same time.

        Optimum air outlet flow

        • Short-circuit-optimized air outlet flow ensures even temperature distribution and a high level of comfort.
        • Thanks to the special arrangement and air routing in the duct, the air rises higher up the façade, mixes better and penetrates deeper into the room; supported by flow-optimized roll-up grilles and linear grilles.
        • More efficient performance and a more comfortable indoor climate compared to conventional systems.

        Minimal sound through sound decoupling

        • Sound-decoupled tangential fans with coupling/ball stud system to minimize noise.
        • Tool-free, quick disassembly of the fans for maintenance work.

        Width, height & length

        Trench convectors can be selected in different lengths (A) depending on the version, so that they can be optimally integrated into common window hinge systems.

        The functional width (B) and height (C) allow individual adaptation to the floor structure and at the same time determine the performance of the trench convectors.

        Continuous hinges can be realized using empty parts, column recesses, angles, etc.

        System

        2-pipe system

        With this design, the entire heat exchanger surface is available for temperature control, depending on the medium currently present in the pipe system (cold or hot water). Switch-over between heating and cooling takes place centrally via the building management system. This variant is particularly suitable for applications with seasonal switch-over and reduced installation effort.

        4-pipe system

        This version is suitable for sophisticated air conditioning concepts in which each room zone or unit can be switched over individually between heating and cooling. By routing the heating and cooling medium separately, the system offers maximum flexibility and comfort - ideal for buildings with changing usage requirements.

        2-pipe
        4-pipe

        Grate start / Grate design

        Various grating variants are available for the cover, which ideally meet both functional and design requirements. Different materials can be selected depending on the application area.

        In addition, different surface coatings and colors are possible in order to achieve a visual adaptation to the building architecture and interior design.

        What is technically relevant is that the choice of material and geometry can influence the free air cross-section and thus have an impact on the performance of the unit. These effects are taken into account in the performance calculation.

        Arrangement of air outlet for cooling / heating

        • directly on the façade, without a large gap (A, B)
        • provide expansion joints (1) on site to prevent compression by, for example, screed
        • Arrangement convector on the window side, tangential fan on the room side
        • effective cooling and heating, especially for large areas of glass
        • Rising air forms an air vortex that flows into the room without creating a draft.
        • optimal shielding and uniform temperature control in the room

        Acoustics

        The units are equipped with quiet, sound-optimized EC fans.

        Sound pressure and sound power levels are tabulated in the technical data.

        The actual sound pressure level depends heavily on:

        • the number of units;
        • the acoustic properties of the room.

        Recommendation: The design should always take into account the permissible sound pressure level in the room.

        Life Cycle Assessment Data (LCA)

        • Considers the environmental impact of the product over its entire life cycle.
        • Published as an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in accordance with standard EN 15804.
        • Available for download at International EPD System.
        • Item number-specific life cycle assessment data in the technical data sheets.
        • Product is registered in the DGNB Navigator (building product platform).

        Serves as proof for certification systems, e.g:

        • DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council);
        • BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method);
        • LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
